Finally Getting Started

Why is it so hard to commit to anything, to actually start? I've wanted to start this blog since February 1, but keep telling myself, "I can wait until tomorrow." Then it was March 1, then April 1, then…well, you get it.

Today is July 11. Why start now? A friend of mine died on Saturday. She was at church last Sunday, and I was going to stop and talk to her, since I hadn't seen her in awhile. But she was busy. She was already talking with a bunch of people. I told myself, I can talk to her next week. Little did I know, there would be no "next week". There will be no more opportunities this side of heaven to talk, to laugh, to share memories.

Procrastination has to take a back seat to urgency. Today is finally the day to start. What are you waiting for?

Life is a marathon - enjoy the run!

My marathon time qualifies me for Boston - but I have to be 75. So yes, I am slow, but despite my slowness, I have completed five full marathons, several half marathons, and dozens of 3-5 milers. All of that time in running shoes does give your mind ample time to wander, and I often find life lessons in the early mornings, the pain and the suffering, the camaraderie and the loneliness, and in the healing and celebrations!

Life is a marathon, and we can learn a lot of life's lessons along the way. No running is required. Join me for training as we put in our miles together!
